The Company

Beacon Computer Services are a software house based in the United Kingdom just north of London.Sspecializing in the production of Linux and Unix server applications, Beacon are staffed with highly motivated and skilled individuals, most of whom have been with the company a considerable time.

Beacon is a technical company specializing in the use of C, Perl, and Javascript as well as html, xml and cgi scripts. All Beacon applications are based on the client/server model.

Historic roots

Caneline Ltd was registered in 1981 and has always traded as Beacon Computer Services being named after a local landmark in the Chiltern Hills, Beacon Hill. The name 'Beacon' comes from the beacons that were set up on hills to warn of invasion, originally because of the danger of Viking incursions. Each was located within sight of the next so that the warning could be spread from one side of the kingdom to the other with the minimum of delay. These eventually were established across the whole of England. The word 'Beacon' as part of a name is therefore common in England.
